Parsley
Parsley
This would have to be one of the most common household herbs across the world. Some people would only recognise it as being a garnish on their plate at a restaurant, although these days other herbs are starting to get a look in.
Parsley has amazing nutrition as it contains more vitamin C than citrus fruits, is one of the highest sources of provitamin A, chlorophyll, calcium, sodium, magnesium and iron!
Its health benefits includes improving digestion, promotes urination, good for bladder or kidney stones, strengthens the adrenals and benefits the optic and brain nerves. Can also be beneficial in treating ear infections, earaches and deafness.
So next time you have a sprig of parsley on your plate as a garnish do eat it as it will freshen your breath, help digestion and strengthen your teeth! You can drink parsley tea for higher therapeutic benefits rather than eating a tonne of it, but heating it does destroy the vitamin C content. And no longer is there just the curly variety, its more commonly found now as flat or Italian parsley which has a slightly different flavour to the curly variety, but the same health benefits.
